information system (GIS) technology. GIS Day 2011 at the University of Ottawa provides an opportunity for those curious about GIS (a Canadian invention) to view real-world applications of this technology in action. This year the University of Ottawa’s Department of Geography, Geographic Statistical and Government Information Centre (GSG), and the Laboratory for Applied Geomatics and GIS Science (LAGGISS) will host GIS Day 2011. There will be student exhibits and events taking place between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the 16th of November in the University Unicenter (see attached map). We are planning a GIS themed poster, photo and essay contest as well as seminars, and workshops and charity bake sale.
