Gerald Dragon: On social work and hip hop With such a wide range of interests — try gardening, hip hop, radio broadcasting, social work, reading and ice-cream making! — Gerald Dragon (BSocSc '02, [Criminology]) certainly is a modern Renaissance man. However, if self-discipline, global awareness, altruism and the pursuit of knowledge are distinctly human attributes, then perhaps Gerald can best be described as a “professional” human being. Gerald Dragon initially left his hometown of Barrie, Ontario in 1997 and headed for the capital to study criminology at uOttawa’s Faculty of Social Sciences. Gerald recalls that, by his second year, he was starting to get a better sense of what the discipline was about, and he knew he’d made the right choice. However, he admits that it wasn’t until he had actually graduated from uOttawa that he started to benefit more fully from what the institution has to offer to its student community.Click the link below and scroll to bottom of page for a feature on Gerald Dragon, by Sonia Vani, for the faculty of social scienes newsletter. http://www.socialsciences.uottawa.ca/eng/alumni_n_nov11.asp
